Old Skool Laptop Memory Oct. 9th, 2008 @ 10:14 pm
Anyone got some old skool laptop memory laying around?

I'm working on a computer for a friend of the family. Its a Dell Inspiron 2500 with Windows XP and only 128MB of RAM. Its an absolute dog, and I think even a small memory boost would help a lot.

I'm pretty sure its PC100 SDRAM. Anyone got a 128MB or greater stick lying around? Would trade for a DDR256.

I am extremely interested in this.

iPhone users, can you please sound off for me? My boss is considering these for us and I want to know if y'all have any complaints.

Thanks!

» What Grinds My Gears
You know what really grinds my gears? That any domain name that makes sense is registered, and about 50% of them to cybersquatters.

They should make squatting illegal. It'd be near impossible to enforce, but... yeah... they... should...

And that's what really grinds my gears.

If you haven't already had to, you may need to replace the power supply that came with your computer.

Why? A poorly designed wire that with time and use may short and either a) stop working, or b) short out and potentially cause a fire.

Here, see... I'm not the only one.

Has Apple addressed the problem? I guess, in their own politically correct manner.
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306446

Are they doing anything about it? No. Historically, Apple does nothing until someone files a class action lawsuit.

Am I a bit miffed? Yeah, but happy to be running again (albeit $83.74 poorer).

Heed my warning: if yours has not failed yet, start babying the thing, and keep a close eye on it. If it does short, you could have a serious problem.

» Momma doing well
Well I was kinda hush hush because it happened so fast, but...

Momma went into the hospital saturday doubled-over in abdomen pain. This has been happening frequently recently, but was only recently bad enough for her to go to the hospital.

She had a bowel obstruction that was being caused by a hernia. Yeah.

Doc got her all fixed and stitched up yesterday afternoon/evening and she's doing well.

How does he know how many bodies will fit in it?

Subject: Large Wooded Box (for carpenters?)

I have a large wooden box big enough to fit 2-3 bodies in it. It is very heavy and solid. It has a top with a hinge. Perhaps someone can use this as a workbench? It also has an old circular saw and some other tools. I can help you load it into a truck or van. Contact Justin.

» Low Cost Renewable Energy Contribution
If you use Consumer's Energy for your electricity (most of the people that read this blog do), you can contribute to the replacement of traditional energy sources (read: coal) with renewable energy (read: wind and waste pile methane generators) by enrolling in this new program.

Dasone and I are signing up. It will likely cost us about $15.00 per month, which will ensure that our entire share of energy usage is covered by renewable resources. You can contribute in increments of as little as $2.50 per month.

Also, I think the more people that participate in this program, the more viable it is, so please consider it.

Oh, you could also win a Saturn Green Line. :)

Please take a few mintes to check it out.
